Know Your Limits music tour at Innage Lane Youth Centre

Written by Louie Whitehurst Thursday, 26 August 2010 15:03

On Saturday August 28th the "Know your limits" music tour opens at Innage Lane Youth Centre in Bridgnorth.  Doors open at 18.30.

A group of Year 9 boys from Bridgnorth Endowed School have successfully applied for funding to go on a tour, with other bands from Shropshire Youth Bridgnorth Centre's music project. They will be travelling around the county playing both LIVE and recorded music,   promoting Alcohol Awareness to a wide variety of young people.

The Project is funded by the Youth Opportunity Fund, which is uniquely designed to take applications from the young people themselves, primarily from the 13 to 19 age group.

A committee of young people are also part of the decision making process. The group plan to take 3 local youth bands to play at Youth Centres and other Venues.

As well as the tour being led by one of the centre's Tuesday Music Project bands; Zero 2 Hero, There will also be Thomson Oldman, a blues-influenced rock group and New Generation, a DJ duo, both from the centre.

DJ performances are planned to fit in between band sets and there will also be Alcohol Awareness Workshops, being the focus behind the tour.

The events will include non-alcohol cocktails and Issue-based quizzes.

Stray plus Shebangg at The Shakespeare on Sunday 5th September

Written by Linda Mason Thursday, 26 August 2010 14:13

The Festival draws to a close on Sunday 5th September with party atmosphere and two great rock bands Del Bromham's Stray plus Shebanng.

Back in the 70’s Stray was one of the hardest gigging, and consistently excellent live acts on the circuit. Del Bromham is perhaps a little lesser known than Page, Beck or Clapton but over the years many reviewers – including the Encyclopaedia of Popular Music – and fellow guitarists have come to acknowledge his rightful place at the highest levels of rock and blues guitar playing.

Del  founded Stray as far back as 1966 but the intervening years (producing a dozen or so albums) have not  only seen Stray’s legendary live performances maintain faith with their earlier material but also adding plenty of cutting-edge new work to their live set list. Over the years the band has toured with the likes of Ten Years After, Status Quo, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Kiss and Rush.

StrayThat Stray still remains up there with the best of their kind is evidenced by their latest CD – Valhalla – receiving Get Ready To Rock! magazine’s Best Album of 2009 award.

With the brand new re-issue programme and the fiery guitarist Del Bromham at the top of his form, the new Stray line-up of Stuart Uren, Karl Randall and of course Del Bromham, are setting a new standard for one of Britain’s most enduring guitar led rock bands.

You really cannot afford to miss out on this rare opportunity to see Stray visiting Shropshire and delivering the very best of guitar-based rock!
